Silcoset 101 Heat Resistant RTV Silicone Rubber by ACC Slicones. Primarily this is a pouring silicone with a Shore A Hardness of 55 (61 degrees IRHD) and resistant up to 350 degrees in short periods, though the datasheet suggests a maximum service temperature of 300. This silicone is so good that its approved by the Ministry of Defence for caulking and sealing aircraft and potting their electronic components. Now only the best is good enough for the MoD! Its suitable for White Metals, Pweters, LowMelt Alloys and Lead The base is a brick red colour and has a clear catalyst added to it to form a hard moulding rubber. It can be demoulded from the former in only 4 hours and gives excellent potlife for application and air release. A long potlife is essential if you do not have a degassing chamber to allow the maximum amount of air to escape that you will entrap during mixing the two parts. Comes complete with 5g catalyst in 100ml bottle. Please note that this is only around 5ml of liquid. The bottle may appear nearly empty! This rubber requires only 1% addition of catalyst to cure. Its important to remember to TEMPER your RTV Silicone if you are using it at high temperatures. See our section on Tempering RTV Silicone Rubber.
