GRP Fibre Glass Laminates and their cured properties vary wildly according to the way in whch the product is used. To maintain properties as close as possible to those intended by the manufacturer, you should follow the guidelines below: - Draughts - These will cause excessive Styrene loss and result in an under cure. Try to work out of them where possible.
- Undercatalysing - To extend out your working time and mix more at once. Not recommended since you will lose excessive amounts of Styrene again leading to undercure
- Temperature During Work - Keep it as constant as possible using accelerators and catalysts to control cure times, not heat
- Strength of Catalyst - Use lower activity in the Summer, higher activity in the Winter and adjust the % addition
- Correct Mixing - Under mixing causes many problems, ensure your resin or gel is fully hoogenised with the catalyst
- Uniform Resin Content - Do not over richen any area with resin. Roll well and consoliddate uniformly and dont allow resin to pool. Equally don't over consolidate and damage the glass fibres.
