Vinamold Hot Melt

Hot Melt or Hot Pour Rubber Systems present one main advantage. Once the mould is used and finished with, the material may be cut up and re-used a number of times. There are two main brands:

  • Vinamold (often mispelt Vinamould)
  • Gelflex

Either system works as well as the other and neither outlasts the other. However Gelflex is more expensive and we only stock to order on that brand. By far the market leader is Vinamold which comes in 4 grades; 3 of hardness & 2 for chemical resistance. Vinamold WHITE is the same hardness as RED however melts at a slightly higher temperature and has enhanced chemical resistance. It is most suited to high alkaline mixes like concrete.

Once set, Vinamold is pretty safe to handle. However some phalates still exist so care should be taken. This product is not recommended for younger persons due to the extreme high temperature burn risk present when making the mould. If the adult is doing that entire portion, then Vinamold is safe to handle after cooling, though we still recommend a set of latex gloves!
