Casting Resins

We have most types of casting resins at TOMPS. Polyurethane Fast Cast, Polyester Casting & Laminating Resin & Epoxies. Our Polyurethane Fast Cast is one of the most talked about in the small scale and table top gaming world. It is available in two setting speeds and produces a non brittle durable plastic in minutes. It will set just microns thick, though we wouldn't says its very strong that thin!

Our Polyester Casting & Laminating Resin is a dual purpose system from DSM Resins. Unfilled and low viscosity, it lends itself either to casting or laminating, though with the latter, on long verticals you may experience some draining due to the viscosity. We have other polyester resins if you have extreme needs!

Our casting and laminating epoxy works brilliantly with carbon fibre, cures almost clear with just the hint of yellow (usually hidden by carbon weave!) and is very popular in boat repairs. The handy 2:1 kit is easy to use and fairly low odour once mixed.

Safety Data Sheet is identical for either Potlife! Please note that we no longer print and include datasheets with your order. All datasheets are available for download on the item where your purchase was made. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to download and read the information. Please think of the environment before deciding to print!, Mixing our Fast Cast system couldn't be simpler. It is an easy 1:1 by weight product. Some customers do mix this system as a 1:1 by volume, we do not endorse that method and it may result in a difficult to paint casting due to the excess part B forming a greasy skin post cure. When using fillers, calculate your total weight of mix, assess the filler addition and add to the part B and mix through. Stand to allow air to release. Then add the part A in equal weight to the part B. DO NOT INCLUDE THE FILLER WEIGHT! Stir well for approximately one minute and pour immediately.

Super low viscosity, brilliant thin section properties, non brittle and entirely unfilled.

It is the responsibility of the purchaser to download and read the information. Please think of the environment before deciding to print!, Polyester Resins are cured with MEKP, a corrosive peroxide. It is added at 0.75% to 4% by weight. We do not recommend under 1% as any error in weighing may mean the product fails to cure. Adding more MEKP will reduce the working time (POT or POTLIFE) and mean the resin reaches peak exotherm faster. It will not make the system exotherm any more than with a lower dose, it simply gets to its cross linking temperature faster. It is a myth that adding less MEKP affects the maxium exotherm temperature! Weigh out the desired volume of resin Calculate the required catalyst (1-4% by weight) Add the catalyst and stir well ensuring you combine the whole mix Stand briefly to degass If using degassing equipment bear in mind the vapour pressure of the product. Excess drawn vacuum will boil the product Pour and allow to cure

Low viscosity polyester casting resin for models and minor GRP repairs. Will laminate as well as cast!

Please think of the environment before deciding to print!, Epoxies are closely balanced systems and should be measured accurately. This system is by weight at a 2:1 ratio. For each 100g of base resin you will require 50g of the activator part B. Stir very well and ensure the whole pot is mixed scraping the sides and bottom. For absolute surety, place mix into a seperate pot and stir again.
Clear in thinner sections, untinted and ideal for carbon fibre layup.
