Unsaturated Unpigmented Polyester Flowcoat Kit with FREE Catalyst.

As a quick guide for coverage you will need 675-750g per square metre of application area. For catalysation MEKP Catalyst is supplied with the kit for an addition ratio of 3%. This product needs only MEKP catalyst to cure it. MEKP should be added at 1-3% by volume according to the MEKP Catalyst Addition Chart. Adding more than 4% catalyst is a waste, there will be spare chemicals left over which WILL soften your laminate!

The Gel Time at 1% MEKP and 25° Celsius is 13 minutes. Colder temperatures will extend this time, additional catalyst will reduce it thereby giving flexibility in working time and temperature. Colours so not usually affect cure times.

Mixing Guide:
Polyester Gelcoat & Flowcoats are cured with MEKP, a corrosive peroxide. It is added at 0.75% to 4% by weight. We do not recommend under 1% as any error in weighing may mean the product fails to cure. Adding more MEKP will reduce the working time (POT or POTLIFE) and mean the resin reaches peak exotherm faster. It will not make the system exotherm any more than with a lower dose, it simply gets to its cross linking temperature faster. It is a myth that adding less MEKP affects the maxium exotherm temperature! Weigh out the desired volume of gel/flowcoat Calculate the required catalyst (1-4% by weight) Add the catalyst and stir well ensuring you combine the whole mix Stand briefly to degass If using degassing equipment bear in mind the vapour pressure of the product. Excess drawn vacuum will boil the product Pour and allow to cure
