DSM 6060 Polyester Casting Resin. We supply this primarily as an unfilled casting resin with fantastic low exotherm. Add a choice of fillers to help with impact resistance, shrinkage, colour or effect such as cold casting. By using this resin instead of a pre-filled figurine resin you can craft just the resin you need! This resin is low viscosity (thats runny for the non techy people!) at 23 celsius giving fantastic air release. The data sheet does not show this use for this resin but we have some 300 customers who say this is their polyester casting resin of choice!
This resin is a medium reactivity, low exotherm, low viscosity , pre-accelerated orthophthalic resin incorporating a colour change mechanism on initiation. It can be used for lamination too. Kits available from 0.5kg to 25kg and sufficient catalyst is supplied for the job to add at 3%. Additional catalyst is available from the shop.

Polyester Resins are cured with MEKP, a corrosive peroxide. It is added at 0.75% to 4% by weight. We do not recommend under 1% as any error in weighing may mean the product fails to cure. Adding more MEKP will reduce the working time (POT or POTLIFE) and mean the resin reaches peak exotherm faster. It will not make the system exotherm any more than with a lower dose, it simply gets to its cross linking temperature faster. It is a myth that adding less MEKP affects the maxium exotherm temperature! Weigh out the desired volume of resin Calculate the required catalyst (1-4% by weight) Add the catalyst and stir well ensuring you combine the whole mix Stand briefly to degass If using degassing equipment bear in mind the vapour pressure of the product. Excess drawn vacuum will boil the product Pour and allow to cure
