Please think of the environment before deciding to print!, It is recommended that on a new tool, the wax be applied, allowed to haze and buffed to high gloss a minimum of six times. The more the better, but six is considered minimum. Applications between casts are usually restricted to just a single application, again waiting for the product to dry and haze, then buff to high gloss. If using with Blue Gloss PVA, you may find that you need to add some very hot water to the PVA prior to application to improve its drying speed and reduce the chance of fish eye or lace curtain effect.

Please think of the environment before deciding to print!, There are several ways to use white beef tallow as a release agent, but in its raw form, the fats are too hard to provide an easy application. Each fibre hand will have a different level of softness they prefer but this is usually achieved with the addition of vegetable oil, white spirit or methylated spirit. The most common practice is to melt the tallow, add vegetable oil and allow to cool. Application is usually by rag. care should be taken not to fill fine details in moulds.

For each 100g of base resin you will require 50g of the activator part B. Stir very well and ensure the whole pot is mixed scraping the sides and bottom. For absolute surety, place mix into a seperate pot and stir again.

It is added at 0.75% to 4% by weight. We do not recommend under 1% as any error in weighing may mean the product fails to cure. Adding more MEKP will reduce the working time (POT or POTLIFE) and mean the resin reaches peak exotherm faster. It will not make the system exotherm any more than with a lower dose, it simply gets to its cross linking temperature faster. It is a myth that adding less MEKP affects the maxium exotherm temperature! Weigh out the desired volume of resin Calculate the required catalyst (1-4% by weight) Add the catalyst and stir well ensuring you combine the whole mix Stand briefly to degass If using degassing equipment bear in mind the vapour pressure of the product. Excess drawn vacuum will boil the product Pour and allow to cure To prevent tacky finishes use only in silicone moulds and exclude air with use of a waxed sheet of glass or cling film Exposure to air during cure will cause a tacky finish on the exposed parts

Please think of the environment before deciding to print!, MIXING RATIO: 100:42 VCat Setting Time: 6-25 Minutes Which translates as 100g plaster 42g water. Since 100cc or ml of water = 100g, one can assume 100g plaster to 42cc water. Other ratios are on the technical data sheet, click the appropriate tab to view. To approximate the requirement for the mould, fill the mould with water and empty into a mixing container, ideally graduated. Divide the total volume by 42 and multiply by one hundred for the correct weight of plaster. Sprinkle or seive the plaster into the water and allow to abosorb water fully before stirring Do not whisk, you will entrain air and cause bubbles! You can also estimate the amount of plaster needed by sprinkling plaster onto the measured water and continue to do so until the plaster level reaches the water level in the container. You will see a sub surface lunar landscape like picture. Our friends at hirstarts.com also have a pictorial mixing guide for this Heath Robinson method.

Please think of the environment before deciding to print!, GRP Fibre Glass Polyester Casting Resin or Polyester Gelcoat 1. Weigh out the desired volume of resin or gelcoat into a suitable container 2. Calculate the catalyst required at a ratio of 1.5-3% by weight 15g to 30g per kilo 3. If preferred add catalyst by volume at 13-26ml per 1000g 4. Stir very well, trying not to entrap any air and ensuring you get right to the edges and bottom 5. To be sure of full catalysation, tip from one pot to another after first mix and re-mix 6. Allow to stand for a few moments for air release (casting resin only) 7. Tip into the mould or paint onto the surface 8. Allow to cure (see the data sheet 6060_TECH.pdf (resin) or neo2000_TECH.pdf (gel) for cure times) 9. Cure times will vary on catalyst added and ambient temperatures. In cold climate add extra catalyst to a max. of 4% --Ensure your mould is free of water or dampness before casting- this will inhibit cure in top layers --Try not to cast in freezing cold or overly damp conditions --Ensure you resin is fully mixed, if it is not you will get pockets of uncured resin --Be as accurate as possible with weighing catalyst and resin - buy digital scales 1g increment for larger volumes, 0.1g increments for less --Ensure you are adding the right amount of catalyst. Add more if your mould is dry and resin is fully mixed yet still tacky on demould --In cold conditions you will need more catalyst. If you get yellowing or cracking that is too much catalyst! --Wipe uncured surfaces with acetone and buff with a wax to save the piece, though this is not guaranteed to save it! --If your resin is colder than 23 celsius and the ambient temperature is cold then the cure time will substantially increase.
