There are several ways to use white beef tallow as a release agent, but in its raw form, the fats are too hard to provide an easy application. Each fibre hand will have a different level of softness they prefer but this is usually achieved with the addition of vegetable oil, white spirit or methylated spirit. The most common practice is to melt the tallow, add vegetable oil and allow to cool. Application is usually by rag. care should be taken not to fill fine details in moulds.
